Fast Image Stitching
Image stitching of overlapping digital images is known to be used
to create panoramic images in smart phones.
In this industrial project an image stitching algorithm for gray
value image series of a video has been developed in collaboration
with a customer. The motion of the video camera can be measured
from the stitched image series with an accuracy of a few
micrometers.
The algorithm especially features limited translation ranges
between subsequent images. This makes the image stitching
process fast and robust even at significant variations of
image contrast.
Risk Analysis of Laser Radiation
Direct or scattered incidence of laser radiation on the human eye
results in health risk for exposed persons. Depending on the
specific situation the exposure can lead to injuries and blindness.
In this project a simple computer model for radiation expansion
has been developed. Then computer simulations specified by the
customer have been run. The simulation runs showed at an early
stage which shield geometries protects best.
Engineering Trainings on Big Data Analytics
I train students in Big Data Analytics at the Höhere Fachschule für Technik und Maschinenbau HFTM in Grenchen (Switzerland). The training module focusses on practical applications of data analysis in the professional context of the students.
